I became a winemaker and Ayurvedic practitioner after quitting cigarettes, getting a divorce, and losing my Wall Street marketing job. In my writing I explore my choice of a child-free life and the ebbs and flows of intimacy after divorce.

Perhaps I did not grow up celebrating Thanksgiving but I sure loved our Austrian fall traditions.
In pursuit of a healthier lifestyle, yoga began as cross-training to my running. When it soon became a haven for calm, stress relief, and spiritual growth, I felt called to deepen my practice and completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2022. This training, focused on classical Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga, also introduced me to Ayurveda, India’s ancient healing system and yoga’s sister science. Now, as a Yoga instructor and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist with Nourish 108 Ayurveda & Yoga, I support my clients in incorporating Ayurvedic principles into their daily lives through practice and self-care rituals.
When people inquire about my journey into the world of wine, I often quip about my transition from the software industry, where wine was a frequent companion. It usually elicits a chuckle. However, the reality is far more intricate; a convergence of various factors led me to pursue winemaking. For the full story, you'll have to delve into my memoir.
After making wine for large, well-known brands such as Ravenswood, Kim Crawford and Banshee, I felt the need for a new adventure and founded ADH Winemaking, Now, leveraging the wealth of knowledge acquired, I serve as a consulting winemaker for burgeoning wineries in the Sierra Foothills, applying my expertise to help them flourish.
In high school, I loved to write and even kept a diary. Over the years, though, the act of writing lost its sparkle as all my creativity was channeled into preparing PowerPoint presentations and writing emails. Now, decades later, my inspiration has returned. Over the past eight years, I've written several personal essays and recently completed my memoir which I am now actively pitching.
During the pandemic, I couldn't resist the urge to jump on the podcasting bandwagon. Since running has been a significant part of my life since my late twenties when I quit smoking, I felt inspired to create a podcast titled "I Quit... and Started Running". This podcast shares the stories of individuals who turned to running to overcome various challenges in their lives. In my conversations with guests, we explore their journey from where they started, what prompted them to change, how running played a role, and where they are today.
Currently, I'm in the process of turning the my father's recordings into "The 9 Lives of Hubert J. de Heinrich", a podcast of him reading his memoir.
